Saints Golf is the performance golf programme at the University of St Andrews.
Our aim is to attract the brightest and best student golfers to the Home of Golf, where they can pursue their golfing ambitions to the highest level whilst simultaneously studying for a degree at one of the finest academic institutions in the world. The synergies between both sporting pursuit and educational achievement can be traced back to the 15th century when golf was first played in St Andrews and Scotland’s first University and the third oldest in the English-speaking world, the University of St Andrews was founded in 1413. Today both golf and the University share more than history as both combine together to pursue excellence through our performance programme, Saints Golf.
Our squad consists of competitive teams with a roster that covers the globe, all of whom covet the chance to further their golfing education on the fabled Links of the Auld Grey Toun. We compete domestically in the UK through the BUCS League and Championship as well as across Europe and around the world.
Performance is at the core of our programme and we are fortunate to draw on two key elements, the St Andrews Links stable of seven magnificent courses and the world class practice facilities at the St Andrews Links Academy. All our players have Links Tickets giving them access to all the courses 365 days a year. Director of Golf, David Watt, said that “Learning the intricacies of playing these great courses in our unique weather conditions gives our players unparalleled golfing experiences that further their ability, off the course they have access to one of the finest practice facilities in the world – one that sits adjacent to the Old Course itself”.
By joining Saints Golf you are making a commitment, to leave no stone unturned in achieving everything possible both academically and in the greatest game of all.
