Round 1 Report
Clayton State University sit at the top of the leaderboard after day one of the Boyd Quaich. Played in glorious sunshine both The New and The Old Courses at St Andrews proved tough going for much of the field. With only five players under par, Luke Spooner leads after a three under par 68 on The New Course, closely followed by four other players. This includes Clayton State team mate Nick Woof on 2 under par after a 70 on The Old. Home players Peter Kerr and Matthew Myers are in the mix after level 71 On The New Course. Round 2 begins tomorrow at 7am.
Round 2 Report
Luke Spooner (Clayton State) extended his lead to two shots after round 2 with a solid 70 on The Old Course. A group of three players, involving Peter Kerr (University of St Andrews), Eanna Griffin (Maynooth University), and Bradley Scott (University of Exeter) are in the chasing pack after rounds of 68, 69 and 71 respectively.
It was a day of what “might have been” for many players as The Old Course’s famous back nine took its toll. The biggest scalp was Matthew Myers who after 12 holes was eight under par for the day. Matthew finished with a 71, and whist he will feel disappointed given his excellent start, is still in the mix and only four shots behind.
Round 3 begins at 15:28 on Wednesday on The New Course
