St Andrews Links Trust is a charitable organisation responsible for the management and maintenance of the Links courses at St Andrews, including the famous Old Course, host of the 2015 Open Championship. The Trust was established in 1974 and employs more than 300 permanent staff and seasonal workers during the high season.

The Old Course is at the heart of the Links but it is part of a family of seven public courses, three of which are well over 100 years old. Over 200,000 rounds of golf a year are played on the Links with its three championship courses, the Old, the New and the Jubilee, the recently added Castle Course, two 18 hole courses, the Eden and the Strathtyrum, and the nine-hole Balgove Course.

The Trust manages a number of additional facilities including the Links, Eden and Castle Course clubhouses, the Golf Practice Centre and Golf Academy and five shops. Any revenues generated go back into the running of the historic courses.

We at Saints Golf are incredibly fortunate to receive support and friendship from the Links Trust, our team benefit from counting the world class Golf Academy as their practice base and all students at the University can take advantage of the opportunity to purchase a Links Ticket at heavily discounted prices, thereby allowing them access to all the courses in St Andrews year round. www.standrews.com

The R&A
R-and-A

Each year the R&A invests more than £300,000 in student and University golf and our Saints Golf programme is fortunate to be one of the recipients of this support.

Formed in 2004 and based in St Andrews, The R&A seeks to engage in and support activities that are undertaken for the benefit of the sport of golf and, despite deriving its name from the members’ club, is separate and distinct from The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.

The R&A organises The Open, golf’s oldest and most international major championship, along with a number of other amateur and junior events, some of which are sanctioned by other golfing bodies.
Together The R&A and the USGA govern the sport of golf worldwide, operating in separate jurisdictions but sharing a commitment to a single code for the Rules of Golf, Rules of Amateur Status and Equipment Standards. The R&A governs worldwide, outside of the United States and Mexico, with the consent of 152 organisations from amateur and professional golf and on behalf of over 30 million golfers in 138 countries.

As well as receiving financial support as a programme we also benefit from our players of a certain standard being able to receive individual bursaries from the R&A to help support their golf and study whilst at St Andrews. www.randa.org

David Watt – Director of Golf, University of St Andrews
  • “I decided to start supporting the University of St Andrews golf programs about five years ago. I thought I could help make a difference for these programs by financially helping you start a golf donor program. I'm very proud that you have used my funds to create a Saints Golf Website to help you get the word out.”
Van deWar – 600 Club Founding Member
  • “To play for the University of St Andrews Golf Team made that experience even more important to me – the combination of the traditions, the people I’ve met through the matches and the wider network, the extraordinary places we played, and the consistently brilliant competition, are highlights of my life.”
Storm Boswick – MA Honours, 1991
  • “For over 600 years the town of St Andrews and the University of St Andrews have had a seamless partnership that celebrates the legacy, tradition, and values that bind them together. This standard of excellence is seen through the prism of the Golf Programme.”
